| Madonna Jervis Wise has been an educator and writer for all of her adult life, beginning with a newspaper column in her hometown newspaper called the Cougar Beat. Professionally she writes federal, state and foundation grants for a variety of public agencies and groups. She is also the author of numerous curriculums and journal articles. She authored a comprehensive recipe book, Juanita in Blue, to honor her mother’s culinary prowess as a pie chef and has also co-written a collection of short stories, Sam & Company. She also wrote Welcome to the FCAT Dude Ranch, for FLVS, as an eighth grade test preparation course thematically centered around her own American Quarter Horse, Lark, and her love for anything equestrian. Madonna believes strongly in roots and relationships. She is a product of a rural farm life in the Midwest and moved to Zephyrhills, Florida in the early 1970's where she has spent her entire adult life. The influence of the small town atmosphere and the many mentors in the east Pasco community shaped her adult life. She credits her remarkable family and her children, Jason “Jervis,” Mamie, and Rachel as the inspiration and joy of her life. Madonna's books center around historical fiction and preserving memories. If you know Madonna and her love of kids, horses and history, you recognize the quote she has posted in her office which has weathered many locales. If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. –Henry David Thoreau Co-authors for two of the upcoming books are Madonna's daughters: Mamie Wise and Rachel Wise! |
